INTRO TO REMOTE LEARNING

Moving into the next phase students will need to log into Pearson through the "Clever" portal and then complete assigned online work.

How do students sign on to "Clever"?  There is a "Clever" link on the district's home page under the "students" at the top of the page.  Students can also go directly to clever.com to log in.  The log in prompt requires students to type: "district\your school computer login" in the user name and "your school computer password" in the password line.

Once into clever, click on "Pearson Easy Bridge".  Then click on "Pearson Realize". Then click on the green "Elevate Course 3".  From there you can navigate through "topic 6" by clicking on it.

HOW DO I ACCESS THE ASSIGNMENT?

How to complete and save an assignment on Pearson that has been assigned to you!

  1. Log on to Pearson as normal.

  2. When you get to the main page of Pearson, chose the orange box “classes” in the middle instead of the green "elevate".

  3. Click the classes’ button.

  4. Choose the activity you are to complete, under the “Not Started” tab, click on the activity and begin.

    1. If you started an activity, but did not finish it, it will be found under the “In Progress” Tab.

    2. If you completed an activity and saved it, it will show up under the “Completed” tab.

  5. At end of activity, hit the green check mark in upper right hand corner.

    1. Click turn in when the screen pops up.

    2. It will ask if you are sure you want to turn in your work, as you cannot go back once it is turned in, then hit turn in if you are done.

  6. A box will say your work has been turned in.

  7. Then exit the interactivity.

To kick off the chapter, I would like for you to answer the "Essential

Question" on page 299.

The "Quest" activity focuses on the ancient animal, Dimetrodon.

Log onto Pearson and complete the assigned Chapter 6

"Quest Kickoff:  The Big Fossil Hunt".  This is not for a grade.  It

is a good way to get acquainted with the format and I can also

see who has completed it and who might still be struggling to

navigate the resources.

Here is a nice video on Dimetrodon.

YOU CAN TAKE THE ONLINE QUIZ ANY DAY THIS WEEK, BUT IT MUST BE

COMPLETED BY FRIDAY.  LET ME KNOW IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE WITH

COMPLETING THE "QUEST KICKOFF".  the quiz will be the only grade for this

section.

Wednesday April 15,2020

Read Chapter 6, Section 1, "Determining Ages of Rocks" on pages 302 - 308.

Complete the embedded questions in the reading.  Again, this is not graded work.

Only the Pearson ONLINE quiz at the end of this section will be assessed for a

"grade" of pass or incomplete.  Completing the embedded questions will make

the section quiz easier you know?  Don't blame me, it's not my "fault".  See what I did

there?

I know we have already covered radio-carbon dating, but here is a good
