I will want to stamp your "Four Fluids" activity we completed on

Friday.  Absent Friday?  You must come in and make it up.

 

We are then going to watch a quick 11 minute video on scientific method.

We then have a worksheet packet to complete on scientific inquiry.  It will be due

on Wednesday.

We will finish up the scientific method / nature of science unit with a worksheet disguised as a test.  It will be due tomorrow.

THEN.....drum roll..... I will pass out your textbook! You will need to bring it every day.

That's right.  EVERY DAY!

Complete the "Essential Question" on page 1 and questions 1 and 2 on page 2.  Be familiar with the "Dessert Disaster" described on pages 2 and 3.

Skills Test A (not really a test) is due.

​

We will take a look at your essential question response and responses to questions 1 and 2 on page 2.  We will discuss the "Dessert Disaster" and what might be responsible for one cake turning out with the right texture and one cake turning out flat

as a pancake.

 

We will go to the lab and complete part 1 (observing the physical properties of the 5 mystery powders). You will place a small amount of the powder on a piece of black paper using the small spoon.  Use a hand lens to observe each on a piece of black paper and record the color and size, shape and texture of each on the table. You will put a small amount of each on a microscope slide and observe under a microscope.  Add any new observations to the table.  Take a pinch of each powder and rub

the dry powder between your thumb and index finger.  This step will be easy to knock out while it is on the black paper.  Record the "feel" or texture on the table.  Lastly, take

the pipette and add 2-3 drops of water to the powder on the black paper.  Rub the wet

mixture between your thumb and index finger.  Record the "feel" of texture on the table.  Discard each piece of black paper in the garbage.  Clean up the lab area and wash your hands before returning to your seat.
