If you took the extra credit work it is due today.

"What is Matter?" worksheet is due.

We are going to complete an activity called "Periodic People".  We will organize a group of cartoon people drawings in like groups, predict which one is missing, and sketch that missing cartoon person on the activity sheet.  There are also a few questions to answer

regarding the arrangement of the Periodic People.  It should very much resemble an

actual periodic table.

We are completing the Alkali/ Alkaline Earth metals lab.  You will need goggles,

closed shoes, and long hair tied back for this one.  We have 6 different chloride salts

we will be testing with ammonium carbonate and ammonium phosphate.  By

looking at how these chloride salts react with the two test solutions, we can easily categorize or group them.  The lab page will be due on Wednesday.

On Monday we will be completing a lab that requires goggles, closed toe shoes and tied back hair.  We will be generating oxygen, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen gases.  We will observe the physical properties and test the chemical properties of each gas with a burning wooden splint.  This lab requires the use of sodium hydroxide (lye) and manganese dioxide.  Please come to class prepared to work safely.
